The Bellingham - Cary House is a rare old landmark, rich in traditions and of great
historic value. It dates from 1659 when Governor Bellingham, one of the founders
of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, built it as a hunting lodge. The house was occupied
by the British during the American Revolution. It was in the Cary family for over
150 years and in 1791 major renovations and additions were performed, turning
it into a fine mansion. It will be open for tours during the Chelsea Art Walk.
Featured will be a display of Samplers 1790-1930 from the collection of the Chelsea
Historical Society. The house and its artifacts feature the fine workmanship of many
Chelsea artisans throughout the centuries.
Art Walk hours are June 11th and June 12th, 12:00 - 6:00 pm.

The Apollinaire Theatre Company stages passionate plays at their elegantly restored
theater in the Chelsea Theatre Works, as well as New England's only bilingual free
summer theater in the O'Malley Park.
The Apollinaire Gallery will feature a special exhibit
celebrating its 10 years of outstanding summer productions. Chelsea playwright Robert Boulrice
will offer three short pieces of theatrical whimsy, each examining the Big Themes. In Six Pack
Apps, the boys gather for the annual birthday party poker game to ponder the imponderables,
particularly how to keep the women happy. Epics are conjured up when an ingenue actress asks a
famous playwright to Write Something For Me. Finally, the deeds of a lifetime may not be so
important to the heaven / hell decision
as The Moment during a lifetime when the Panel is paying
attention. The playwright is pleased that Centastage's Joe Antoun will be directing.
Gallery hours are June 11th and June 12th, 12:00 - 6:00 pm.
Theatre performances ( all three plays ) are June 11th and 12th @ 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00 pm

The Chelsea Community Garden will exhibit the work of both gardeners and artists, who
will design and construct their unique interpretations of humanity's most ancient form
of pest control, the scarecrow. As old as agriculture itself, scarecrows have always been
a practical way to keep fields and gardens safe from predators, especially birds and plant
eating mammals, fooling them into thinking that they are being watched. Traditionally they
are set up in individual gardens just after planting and remain there until harvest. Artists'
entries chosen will be displayed in the garden's common areas. Gardener's creations will
display in their garden plots. Founded in 1997, the Chelsea Community Garden is a project
of the Chelsea's Green Space Committee. An oasis in a densely populated inner city,
the garden serves 35 families of diverse backgrounds.
